A forward-facing sensor recognizes low ambient light levels and signals the mirror to begin looking for glare. |
| A rearward-facing sensor then detects glare from the vehicles traveling behind you, sending voltage to the mirror's EC gel in proportion to the amount of glare detected. |
| The mirror dims in proportion to the glare and then clears when the glare is no longer detected. |
| The interior mirror's sensors and electronics control the dimming of both interior and exterior mirrors. |

Replace your existing mirror with an
Auto-Dimming mirror from us! |
| Auto-dimming mirrors make nighttime driving safer by detecting glare and automatically dimming to protect driver vision. Airbags, crumple zones and the like may help you survive a crash, but auto-dimming mirrors help you avoid one altogether. |
| Gentex uses its proprietary, solution-phase electrochromic technology. We sandwich an electrochromic gel between two pieces of glass, each of which has been treated with a transparent, electrically conductive coating, and one with a reflector. |
| * Compass and temperature technologies are features of the PathPoint Compass System developed by Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI). Pathpoint is a trademark of JCI. Worldwide patents granted and applied for. |
|
Eliminate dangerous glare from the vehicles traveling behind you with an NVS rearview mirror. It detects glare and automatically dims to preserve driver vision and make nighttime driving safer. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirror becomes. An *ICE indicator will display for one minute when the temperature is at or below 37 degrees. This feature cautions you to anticipate road-icing conditions. *Compass and *external temperature readouts also ensure that while you are driving safer you are also driving smarter. |

Gentex Corporation is the world's leading manufacturer of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors. Gentex mirrors are based on the science of electrochromics, which is the process of reversibly darkening materials by applying electricity. During nighttime driving, the mirrors use a combination of sophisticated sensors and electronic circuitry to detect glare from rearward approaching vehicles and darken accordingly to eliminate the glare and preserve driver vision. They are popular, active crash-avoidance safety feature making nighttime driving safer for vehicles throughout the world. |
| WHY BUY GENTEX: |
Superior Manufacturing
Because we literally invented the electrochromic mirror industry, we also had to develop the supply base, manufacturing techniques and testing methods. It was a long learning curve. But today, our experience, knowledge and hard work has paid off, because no other glare reduction mirror provider in the world can match our manufacturing capabilities - not in yields, quality or volume. |
GENTEX AUTO DIMMING REAR VIEW MIRRORS
Gentex is the company that pioneered Auto Dimming Mirrors and they continue to be
the choice of 90% of New Car Manufacturers for their vehicles. |
No other EC mirror manufacturer in the world can match Gentex's product quality.
Our proprietary EC technology has inherent, far-reaching advantages over competitive glare-reduction techniques.
In addition, ours are the only mirrors to meet the worldwide automotive specifications for durability and visual acuity. |
| Now you can install one of these great safety mirrors in your vehicle for a fraction of what the car companies want. |
| Windshield Mount Information: |
Gentex Mirrors use a Standard 'GM' type Wedge Mount to attach to your windshield
|
These mirrors mount on the standard windshield mount found in GM, Chrysler, Ford and most other vehicles.
A special adapter is available (in our checkout) for some vehicles that require it.
These include some Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Suzuki and Mitsubishi Models.
Please contact us with your make/model and we will gladly advise as to what is needed. |
| Wedge Mount (No adapter required) |
 |
| Wedge mount mirrors are generally standard on vehicles manufactured in the United States, regardless of vehicle make. However, there can be exceptions. Wedge-style mirrors must be removed by loosening a small screw or clip, and pushing the mirror up towards the roof of the vehicle. If your vehicle's mounting system looks similar to the photo at right, you have a wedge-mount mirror. |
|
| CamLock Mount (Adapter Available for these) |
 |
 |
 |
| CamLock Windshield Mount |
CamLock Mirror Mounts |
|
| Camlock mount mirrors are generally standard on vehicles manufactured outside of the United States, including some U.S. brands. Camlock-style mirrors must be removed by turning the mirror 90o so that it is perpendicular to the dash, and pulling down on the mirror. If your vehicle's mounting system looks similar to the photo at right, you have a camlock-mount mirror. |
| Other Mount Systems or Roof Mounted Mirrors |

Mount may not be exactly as illustrated. |
| If your current mirror is mounted to the ceiling of your vehicle or if the windshield mount is not a Wedge or CamLock style we can supply a new windshield mount button for minimal charge (with mirror purchase only). We recommend that you have the mount replaced by a windshield professional as the risk of cracking your windshield is very high and we can advise if the risk is greater then normal - just let us know which vehicle you have. |
